FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1)  I am out of shape and not flexible, should I  wait?

No! Martial Arts training will get you into shape and this fighting style is based on  natural flexibility.

2)  I have never studied martial Arts before, does it matter?

No! It's better that way, I won't have to break any bad habits. The kind that get you killed in a real confrontation.

3)  Why do you train with shoes on?

This is the 21st century. There is a difference in learning technique with shoes on and shoes off.  Your attacker won't give you time to take them off and do you go to work, a nice restaurant, church or on a date barefooted.

  4)  Why don't you teach weapons besides the stick and knife?

All the other weapons are obsolete in today's society and have no practical self-defense applications. Try carrying a sword, six foot staff, tonfas, halberd, etc.. out to eat or to the movies.

5)  Why is Silat so effective?

Because it's one of the last fighting systems in the world still being used on a daily basis to protect ones life, fight wars and enforce tribal laws.

6)  How fast can I learn to be effective with Silat?

Within weeks!  Most individuals are highly street effective in about 6 months and equal to at least a 3rd degree black belt in martial arts who has studied between 5 to 10 years.

7)  Have you ever used your fighting art for real?

Yes, many times involving multiple opponents, knives and guns due to working in Law Enforcement, Corrections, Security, bouncing and growing up in some pretty rough neighborhoods.
