Combatives / Self-Defense

Combat Martial Arts Division

OUR MISSION

Our goal is to offer a variety of Fighting Arts and classes for everyone’s needs from the Ground Fighting arts like Harimau to combat self-protection arts like Pencak Silat.

We offer classes in

1. Shaolin Pentjak Silat: Our core program for self-defense & health

2. Pukulan Pencak Silat Tempur: Close Quarter Combatives

3. ICT Kali: Knife & Stick fighting

4. Women's Self-Defense: Personal-Protection

5. ICT Ground Fighting: Ground fighting style

Classes are structured but relatively informal. This less-formal atmosphere fosters communication. Open communication is the best way for students to understand what he or she is learning, and students are constantly encouraged to question what is being taught and why.

Although we teach Asian fighting arts, we remain an American school. By this I mean that while we respect our arts' ancient roots and past masters, we use training methods that reflect and exploit our Western characteristics, needs, and virtues. For example, most of our terminology is in English. Asian terminology is limited to those terms that are either more concise than their English equivalents or otherwise not easily translated into English. Sepok and depok (Indonesian terms for ground sitting postures) are two such examples. Also while many schools train in bare feet, we train in shoes for most classes. Barefoot training comes from a time and culture where most practitioners had no shoes (as we know them) or trained indoors where custom demanded they remove their footwear. In our culture wearing shoes is the norm. Forced to fight, then, we will most likely have to do so in shoes, pants and shirts. So our training and practice reflect this reality.

We are also into helping you achieve greater health & longevity. We teach Chi-Kung/Tanaga Dalam (breathing postures) to maximize your EMC= Electrical Magnetic Current. The stronger the current is in the body the better, It can produce great health benefits and increase your cardio endurance. We include and recommend certain herbs and supplements to add to your diet for overall nutritional needs and for your own personal health goals.
